UPDATE!!! Hello fellow Nassers, Monterey gatherers, and otherwise interested parties, I have finally come up with a plan for Laura and my trip to Monterey. We will leave Willits when Laura gets off work at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 22. Our Goal for Wednesday evening will be to reach The Marina Motel in San Francisco. A trip of about 150 miles. We will leave SF on Thursday morning to travel down the coast Highway 1 to Monterey which is approximately another 100 miles or so. We have some flexibility in the second leg so if any of you wish meet us somewhere along the route, let us know your ideas. I received a call from a gentleman ( forgot his name) from the Triumph Travelers. ( Thanks Rick Kinnune for helping to make this connection.) He lives in the Auburn, California area which is on Interstate I-80 at the western base of the Sierra Mountains. He is coming with two to four cars in his group. He tells me that he will be traveling in a convoy with Nigel. He told me that he has his registrations ready to mail so I will have his info soon. For those in the Eastern areas who want to coordinate on hooking up with them I suggest that you contact Nigel at Spitbits. Dependent on travel dates and route selection it is conceivable that the Utah folks and Eastern Ca. folks could meet up with the Oregonians and Northern Ca. group for a grand convoy along the SF to Monterey section. As far as I know, we don't have any southern Ca. people coming yet. I will keep you posted as things develop. Mike Aplet

| Monterey County's Laguna Seca Park is five miles outside of Monterey
California in the rolling hills of coastal California. Mazda Raceway is
but one of the attractions at the park. Also availible are a golf course
and campground facilities. Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway is a first class racing
facility that is world renowned.
Laguna Seca was chosen as the first West Coast Spit Together site because its central location, mild climate, and abundant tourist opportunities. NASS hopes this event will be the first of many western Spit Togethers who's venue might travel around the west to be held in an area near you. We hope that a good showing of folks will come out with their Spitfires & GT6's under power, in tow, or represented in a picture album if she refuses to travel. This writer will bring my far from perfect, rusty floored, non carpeted, raggedy seated, 65 Spitfire 4 and will show it proudly. This is a weekend for the western NASS membership to have fun and get to know one another. We can swap lies, share truths, and maybe come away feeling that we have experienced a little time well spent. NASS pre-registration fees for the West Coast Spit Together are $20 by October 3rd, and $30 at the show, The registration includes an event tee shirt, event pin, and entrance to all NASS sponsored contests. The first 30 cars will receive a dash plaque. There are no daily gate fees charged by SCCA for the racing but there is a $5:00 per car, per day parking fee. If you wish camping reservations inside the raceway park, call the Monterey County Parks reservation line at (888) 588- 2267. Camping is $25 per day plus a $5.00 reservation charge. I suggest that you make reservations early as I am told by the folks at SCCA that this is a very major event and is well attended. For the softies among us, NASS has reserved a pool of 20 motel rooms for Spit Together attendees at The Ramada Limited, 2058 North Freemont Street, Monterey CA. 93940. Their telephone number is (831)375-9511. This Motel is probably about the closest to all area attractions including, Laguna Seca, Fishermans Wharf, Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, etc. Reservations include 13 rooms with a single queen for $109. The remainder of the rooms are $119 and have two beds. Attendees should call the motel to reserve individual rooms and to arrange payment for those rooms. This transaction is between Ramada Limited and the individual making the reservation. NASS is not responsible for transactions between the motel and individuals reserving rooms. As details develop, updates will be posted on the NASS
bulletin board .
