Terre Haute, Indiana Wabash Valley British Sports Car Club Summer 2002
Ken Doty It is with great sorrow that we must say goodbye to one of our fellow members of the Wabash Valley British Sports Car Club. J. Kenneth Doty, 50, of Terre Haute, IN, died at 8:45 a.m of a massive heart attack Monday, July 8, 2002, in his residence. Ken was a conductor for CSX Railroad and formerly was a driver for Turner Coaches Inc. He was born Oct. 27, 1951, in Terre Haute to J. Kenneth Doty and Inice Gibson Doty. He is survived by his wife, Jeri Peters Doty, whom he married April 1, 1991; and two daughters, Jamie Doty of Fort Wayne, IN and Brandi Kellams of Terre Haute. Memorial services were held in the Doty home on July 10th, 2002 with many club members attending. Ken had been a long standing member of the WVBSCC. He was a proud collector of British autos of many different marques, including a Bentley Saloon, a Triumph TR3 & Spitfire, a Mini Cooper, a Jaguar, and an MG Midget among his prized collection. Ken and Jeri had attended several club functions this year, including the Champagne British Car Festival in Champaign/Urbana, IL on Memorial weekend of this year. Ken Doty will be missed. As a long time member of our Car Club, Ken was always a kind and gentle man, and first to offer help. Quite often, he would make repairs and improvements on other member's cars. His little 2 wheeled car-hauler was used many times by our club members. Ken and Jeri offered their home on many Christmas Party nights. Ken taught us a lot of things about British cars, and he left us with a sense of service to others that will carry forward and affect the lives of many. Ken was our friend! Ken will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. Our condolences, prayers and support go out to Jeri Doty and her family, during this difficult time. |
