Actually, Moonshine is a place, a small town in Clark County Illinois.
Clark County resides on the eastern state line, bordering Indiana, about 3 hours south of Chicago.

Several car clubs and motorcycle clubs make this a regular stop.
As we arrived, the Antique Auto Car Club was posing for a group photo.
These are some of the cars that were driven by the AACC members.
We parked our British metal in with the other visitors at Moonshine and headed over to the General Store.
Everyone lined up to place their orders for the best Midwest hamburgers and cheeseburgers. After names and orders were placed, we sat along the benches reading the jokes that lined the walls of the store. This isn’t your usual country store. It isn’t loaded with aisle after aisle of groceries, but just a few essentials and all the fixin’s for the custom made sandwiches down the center of the store.
We left Moonshine as a motorcycle club was arriving, and headed west through the country into Crawford County. Our destination was Greenup, and the “new” covered bridge that was recently opened. We had a wonderful drive under the partly sunny skies and arrived in Greenup to visit the Candy Kitchen prior to the bridge. The Candy Kitchen still has an old-fashioned soda fountain. Sundaes, malted’s, and floats were enjoyed by all.
As we were leaving Greenup heading for the covered bridge, we met the Antique Auto Car Club just returning from the covered bridge.  We drove through the one lane covered bridge, then headed east on Route 40, back to Martinsville, where we visited in the shade of Alice Lee’s gardens. Our total milage was about 50 miles, and there were no mechanical problems on this run.

One of the nice things about a trip to Moonshine, it’s like taking a trip back in time, to those “better days” we all have heard our parents talk about. So if you find yourself crossing Central Illinois on I-70 or US 40 some morning, watch for the Martinsville exit, head south into Martinsville, and ask any local how to get to Moonshine. Remember, the grill is only open from 6:00am to 12:30pm. Maybe we’ll see you there!
